Data Deletion Instructions

At Edu Reminder, we fully respect the Right to be Forgotten under GDPR, CCPA, and international consumer privacy regulations. We believe that your financial history and device metadata belong solely to you, and we have designed our systems so that data deletion is quick, absolute, and completely under your control.

Permanent Deletion Warning: Deleting your local application data or your Google Drive backup files is permanent and irreversible. Because we do not store your ledger transactions on our servers, deleted financial data cannot be recovered by our team.

1. Overview of Data Ownership

Because Money Manager: Expense Tracker operates on local-first privacy principles:

  • No Server Accounts: You do not create a profile or login credentials on our servers to record your expenses.
  • Local Transaction Storage: All transactions, categories, budgets, and card entries are stored strictly on your device. You do not need to contact our support team to request deletion of your financial records — you can erase them yourself instantly.

2. Step-by-Step Data Erasure Instructions

To completely purge all local records, cloud sync files, and server-side notification metadata, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Wipe all Local Device Data

This clears your transaction database, categories, budgets, and application settings from your phone's memory.

  1. Open your Android device Settings.
  2. Go to Apps (or Apps & Notifications) > Money Manager.
  3. Tap on Storage (or Storage & Cache).
  4. Tap Clear Storage (or Clear Data).
  5. Confirm your choice. This immediately wipes the local SQLite database and preference files.

Step 2: Delete Google Drive Cloud Backups

If you enabled Google Drive Cloud Synchronization, you must delete your backup file from your personal cloud storage:

  1. Log in to Google Drive via a web browser or the Google Drive app.
  2. Locate the folder named MoneyManagerBackup (or search for files named backup_money_manager.json or backup_money_manager.db).
  3. Right-click or long-press on the files/folder and select Remove (Move to Trash).
  4. Go to your Google Drive Trash and select Empty Trash to permanently erase the files.
  5. (Optional) To revoke the App's authorization to access your Drive storage, go to your Google Account Settings > Security > Third-party apps with account access, select Money Manager, and click Remove Access.

Step 3: Remove Remote Push Notification Sync Data (Supabase & FCM)

When push notifications are active, the App registers your Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token and device metadata on our secure backend.

  • Auto-Purging: Simply clearing the app's local data (Step 1) or uninstalling the App invalidates the FCM registration token on Google's servers. Inactive device tokens on our Supabase backend are automatically purged and deleted after 7 days of inactivity.
  • Immediate Deletion Request: If you want immediate removal of your notification tokens and device ID from our Supabase tables (user_fcm_tokens and user_fcm_tokens_temp), you can email us at support@edureminder.com with your device's device identifier or FCM registration token, and we will purge your records within 24 hours.

3. Data Retention Boundaries

Once you complete the deletion steps:

  • Local Data:: Clearing the app's data removes your locally stored transactions, budgets, categories, settings, and other application data from your device. If you created Google Drive backups, those files remain in your Google Drive until you delete them. Notification registration records associated with your device are removed automatically after they become inactive or earlier upon request.
  • Zero Residual Caches: We do not retain copies of your financial transactions on our servers. Temporary technical logs required for operating notification services may be retained for a limited period in accordance with our operational and legal obligations.
