Al Quran – القرآن الكريم (“we”, “our”, “app”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our app handles your information, what permissions it uses, how we secure transactions, and how your data is protected. We respect all users and follow privacy-friendly practices.

1. Information Collection and Usage

While you can use the app without creating an account or providing personal details (like name or email), we use third-party services to monitor app stability, improve app performance, and analyze user engagement.

a. Firebase Analytics & Automated Screen Tracking

To understand how users interact with the app and to optimize the overall user flow, we use Google Firebase Analytics. This service collects non-personally identifiable information anonymously:

• Screen View & Screen Duration Events: We automatically track which screens and tabs (e.g. Quran Tab, Books Shelf, Support Screen) are visited and how much time users spend on each section (screen_duration event). This helps us identify the most used features and improve usability.
• Usage Metrics: Device model, operating system version, anonymous session starts, and retention rates.

This data is anonymized and aggregated. We cannot use this information to identify you personally.

b. Firebase Crashlytics (Diagnostics)

To ensure the highest reliability and quickly fix bugs, we have integrated Firebase Crashlytics:

• In the event of an app crash or a non-fatal system exception, Crashlytics automatically sends diagnostic data to our console.
• This diagnostic data includes the stack trace, device type, OS version, and state of the app at the time of the error.
• No Personal Information: This payload never contains personal, sensitive, or user-identifiable data. It is used strictly for debugging purposes.

c. Notifications & Device Identifiers

To provide you with timely Islamic updates, notification deep-linking (e.g., routing click actions to alquran://support), and essential reminders, we collect minimal device-specific information:

• FCM Registration Token: A unique, temporary token used as a "digital address" to deliver notifications to your device.
• Android ID: Used to differentiate unique app installations and prevent duplicate alerts.
• Privacy & Security: This data is stored securely and is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS during transmission.

d. Voluntary Donations & Payment Processing

Our app is completely free to use. We offer users the optional choice to support Sadaqah Jariyah (voluntary contributions) through our Support Screen.

• Secure Payment Processing: We use Google Play Billing and RevenueCat SDKs to handle voluntary in-app transactions securely.
• No Financial Data Storage: All financial transactions, credit cards, or digital wallet details are processed directly and securely by Google Play and RevenueCat with industry-standard encryption. We do not collect, access, view, or store your payment details or financial credentials.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Our app does not collect, store, or share the following sensitive data:

• Your Name, Email, or Phone Number.
• Precise GPS Location.
• Contacts or SMS history.
• Personal Photos, Videos, or unrelated files.

3. Permissions We Use & Why

Our app uses only the following Android permissions, and each permission is used strictly for its intended feature. None of these are “required” unless you access related features.

a. INTERNET

Used only for:

• Downloading Quran audio recitations
• Downloading translations, Tafseer, and Word-by-Word data
• Downloading Islamic books and PDFs
• Loading online updates and processing optional payment checks

The app does not upload or send any personal data over the internet. You can read the Quran offline once data is downloaded.

b. POST_NOTIFICATIONS

android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Used only if you enable:

• Daily Quran reading reminders
• Memorization (Hifz) reminders
• Download completion alerts

This permission is optional and requested only when you turn on notifications. We do NOT send promotional or spam alerts.

c. WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (for older Android versions)

Used for:

• Saving offline Quran audio
• Saving downloaded Tafseer and translations
• Saving Islamic books & PDFs

We never access personal photos, videos, or unrelated files. The app only writes to its own designated directories.

d. READ_MEDIA_AUDIO

Used only for:

• Accessing Quran audio files saved for offline listening
• Managing downloaded recitation files

We do not scan or read unrelated audio/media files.

4. Offline Data Handling

All downloaded data—including audio, Tafseer, translations, Word-by-Word meanings, and Islamic books (PDFs)—is stored locally on your device only.

• We do NOT upload your files
• We do NOT sync them to any server
• You may delete them anytime from the app

5. No Data Sharing

Since the app does not collect personal data, nothing is shared with third-party advertising companies, government organizations, or external parties. Your usage and reading remains completely private.

6. Children’s Privacy

The app is safe for children and contains no harmful content. We do not collect any personal information from children under any circumstances.

7. Security

We ensure:

• No personal data leaves your device
• No background tracking or unsolicited monitoring
• Encrypted channels for essential services (FCM & Billing)
• Offline storage for all downloaded content

Our goal is a safe, transparent, and spiritually respectful experience for all users.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect app upgrades. Any changes will be updated inside the app or on this page. You are encouraged to review this policy periodically.
